Podcast SummaryTune in for the latest House mixes by DJ/Producer Mentor. Playing all the latest House, Electro, Techno, Tech-House, minimal, and classics... About DJ/Producer MentorHouse Music DJ/Producer Mentor began his journey in the art of Electronic Music about 8 years ago. Mentor's passion for House music and DJing came at the early age of 8 when he witnessed one of his older cousins', who was also a House DJ, manipulating a pair of vinyl records together. This event never left Mentor's mind or heart. It was at this point in time that it became a dream for Mentor to become a DJ. While other children his age wished for toys and such he would wish for a set of turntables and a mixer every christmas. Unfortunately for Mentor's family money was an issue and no matter how much he hoped the wish did not come true. When it was time to go to bed at night Mentor would grab his pair of headphones and blast the music from his cousins mixtapes or Hot97's Saturday night dance party aired on FM during the late 80's early 90's, fantasizing to one day be in front of a crowd playing music. Years went by and Mentor got older never losing hope to one day live out his dream of becoming a DJ. Influenced by the Hip Hop culture, he began doing graffiti at the early age of 12 where his "tag name, MENTOR" was created. By the age of 16 he was wanted by authorities for painting his tag name on one too many walls. After going through the legal system and facing criminal charges for defacing others property and getting a large number of fines, Mentor realized it was time for a change so he got a job to pay the fines and began to save his money. Finally after saving enough he went out and purchased his first set of Technic 1200's. He began to practice diligently perfecting his skills, beginning with his first set of Trance records in the late 90's to then evolving his style to Tech-House and Techno from 2000-2002. with influences like Carl Cox, Ben Sims, Ritchie Hawtin, Oscar G, Danny Tenaglia, and Peace Division to name a few. He began to throw House parties with his friends to showcase his skill and be heard. Finally after sometime he began to work with a local NJ promoter in 2002 landing him spots throughout NJ/NYC. His notable talent behind the decks has been expressed throughout many NJ/NYC nightclubs at places in NJ: such as Euphoria Lounge in Bloomfield, Green Man Lounge in Hoboken, Boo Boo's/Cadillac Bar in Hoboken, The Relic in Newark, Jumbalayas in Union, Traxx Lounge in Lyndhurst, Paradox in Plainfields, the Portuguese Feast in Ironbound Newark,Taste Lounge in Belleville & in NYC: Cream, Go, Coda, Chateau, Mod, El Patio, Flow, Lobby, Avalon (in the chapel and spider room) and at Exit's Red Room. Unfortunately for Mentor during the time of these bookings the majority of the crowds were leaning towards Hip Hop. So Mentor decided it was time to seek his crowd by promoting himself on his own. He began a Progressive Tribal House mix cd series to expose his talent. He began to get hundreds of request's for his mixes. Catching the attention of many local NJ/NYC promoters he began to do guest spots at some of the area's most seeked out venues such as: Deko Lounge in Sayreville,NJ opening for Richie Santana, Club Abyss in Sayreville NJ, Fuel Afterhours in Newark, NJ alongside Mario Calegari, Flight in Newark, Pacha NYC, Bassmint Sessions alongside Ohzee & the Butcha, the Portugal Day Feast in Ironbound Newark 05' 06' alongside many talented artists including Rob Mirage, Mario Calegari, Richie Santana, Premo, Danny Way, Ray Briones to name a few, and Gypsy Tea, NYC alongside Vinny Rue, Rik Santiago, and Fabricio Moraes. Today Mentor continues working even harder by stepping into the world of music production. Having armed himself with a Mac computer and some groundbreaking music production programs there's no telling what will come out from his mind and heart and into the ears of his already growing fanbase. We can only expect to hear more from this talented artist in the future so just be sure to listen... Check out the latest singles on DaSound Records, Drum Central Recordings, and Younan Music...more music coming soon!
