Angelo Scalici’s career began as an open format DJ in 2005, performing in various night clubs through-out the Tri-State Area, originating from New York City. Scalici’s interest for music was realized with his production of “mashups” and remixes that were made available via niche sites. Little did he know his interest for “House” music, would lead him in becoming what he is today. Attending various nightclubs
and venues inspired Angelo in applying certain concepts to his style. With performances in venues such
as “Pacha” in New York City and “The Lady Silvia” in Las Vegas, it is no question that his passion depends on “Big Room” sounds including sub-genres known as Deep, Tech & Soulful House.

Producing was always a “hobby” in Scalici’s world until he released his first official original recording in 2010 under Flava Music Records. “La Mosca” became a hit single which would lead to the syndication of
Scalici’s career, placing his recordings under various sites such as Beatport, Trackitdown, iTunes, & many more. Since his first hit, he has recorded several other tracks along with his personal favorite “Rock This Drum” which was released in 2012 for Miami Music Week, also featured during the Winter Music
Conference and heard in various countries such as the U.S., Italy and Spain. His work has also been featured on various Artist Charts, Record Pools & radio stations.

Mentioned earlier was Angelo’s affiliation under Flava Music Records, in which he places a distinctive rank throughout it’s Beatport Label Chart, hitting at #1. Along with that, he has released records under High Sound Music Label located in Italy/Germany. In September 2012, Scalici founded ProMode
Records. Currently he is working on it’s first release that will be called the “Damsalon EP”, containing both an “Original Ibiza Sunset” & “Miami Rave” mix. Today, Angelo Scalici continues his career as one of
the world’s most well known DJ & Music Producer.

Welcome back to another Universal Rhythm Session. This week we welcome...

ADAM FREEMER. DJ. Producer. Sound Engineer. Not many can claim to be truly successful on "both sides of the mixer", but besides being a world renown dj and producer, Adam has worked on and engineered some of the world's finest nightclub sound systems. His skills are often requested in the studio by other producers wanting to tap into his 15+ years of music production and Pro Tools experience. Adam's maintained consistent support from some of dance music's heaviest hitters such as Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed & Victor Calderone to name just a few. After filling in for Danny Tenaglia at his now infamous “Be Yourself” party at Vinyl, New York and playing at New York staple clubs such as Twilo, Limelight and Sound Factory over 10 years ago, Adam has gone on to tour the world several times over as a dj.

With a production career that now spans two decades, Adam’s first major release, H2O, was released on TWISTED records back in 2002. H2O featured house legend Alan T. providing the vocal snippet to this club stomping first effort which received support from some of dance music’s biggest names of the time such as Anthony Pappa, DJ Vibe, and Tom “Superchumbo” Stephan. Adam has since gone on to release many chart topping singles including Underground Baby! which achieved top 5 download status on Beatport. On the remix front, with multiple Billboard charted remixes under his belt including two #1 Billboard remixes of the legendary Yoko Ono and a long list of remixes by respected names such as DJ Chus, Cevin Fisher, D-Formation and Mistress Barbara, Adam has solidified his standing as a respected dance music producer and re-mixer. In 2008 Adam started his own label, Mecha Recordings and besides releasing his own work, the label has released remixes and singles from artists such as Lance DeSardi, D-Formation, DJ Simi and D-Unity.

Across North America, from Stereo, Montreal, Ruby Skye, San Francisco and staple clubs in New York, Miami and his home town of Philadelphia, Adam has been touring as a dj for over 10 years. On a global level, the list is even longer from all over South America to Europe and throughout Asia where he recently visited Womb, Tokyo. Adam continues to evolve as a dj incorporating new sounds into his sets which have their roots in techno, house and soulful deep grooves. With a full-length remix album about to released this Summer on TWISTED and many other remix and original projects in progress, Adam’s touring schedule is about to become busier then ever.

As a sound engineer, Adam's knowledge spans from engineering tracks in the studio to engineering top notch nightclub audio systems. In recent years Adam’s been designing and engineering sound systems around the world and has helped create a resurgence in nightlife in his home town of Philadelphia by bringing quality nightclub audio to the city as never before. He’s currently working on his own nightclub project which will take prominence as the premier nightclub & sound system in Philadelphia and also be one of the best nightclub sound systems in North America.

David Lara is a man that has been making major waves in the house scene since his breakthrough at the beginning of 2006. Bursting onto the scene with a bang, David has carved out quite a reputation in this period of time and this looks set to grow and grow. Releases for Steve Lawler’s Viva imprint kicked things off, followed by releases with Coyu’s much talked about Suara, and the highly successful Neurotraxx in Italy as well as remixes for artists such as Victor Calderone, Chus & Ceballos, D-Formation and lots of more.

In 2011 David is one of the producers that is helping re-invent the house sound, and as such his tracks are getting support from all the major players right now. Steve Lawler, Luciano, Carl Cox, MANDY, Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Tiefschwarz, Matthias Tanzmann and many more are all fans of David’s work, so its not hard to see why people are already talking about him as a present and future star.

Born and raised in Madrid, David’s obsession with house music started at a young age after discovering the music of Danny Tenaglia, Todd Terry & Laurent Garnier, something he still regards as a major influence on his sound to this day. Djing in Spain from a young age would inevitably lead to production for someone of David’s ability. At the age of 25 he took his first steps in the production world. However rather than rush things he knew he needed to hone his talents. Several years of hard work later and he is starting to bear the fruits of this work, and starting to show the world that he means business!

With over 10 years experience behind the decks, its not hard to see why David’s reputation as DJ, which was outstanding in Spain before his productions broke through, have now skyrocketed in the last 2 years. Already djing in some of the worlds most famous clubs such as Space, Amnesia and Pacha in Ibiza, Ministry Of Sound London, Zouk Singapore, Central Station Moscow, Amagama in Ukraine, Sinners in Bulgaria and many many more. Hope you all enjoy this mix David sent over and remember to hit us up with comments and/or questions about the show or the artists featured. Welcome back to Universal Rhythm Sessions. We close off the year with a special treat by one of NYC's favorites, Simon Heyliger! Straight out of Brooklyn, New York, Simon Heyliger is walking in the footsteps of some of the most recognized DJ's out today; who have all had an impact on his style. He was partying at Club Exit, a New York City Super Club in the late 90's, watching 3,000 people dancing and having the time of their lives when Simon realized his dream of touring the world and becoming an internationally known Disc Jockey. He wanted to be the one to provide this therapeutic enjoyment to the masses through dance music. And with that in mind, DJ Simon Heyliger was born. His unique style of spinning consists of electronic music genres such as House, Tech House and Techno. He is constantly inspired by legendary New York City disc jockey, Danny Tenaglia.

Simon has spun at Pacha NYC, Cielo, District 36, Webster Hall, and Sullivan Room just to name a few. He has been hand selected to DJ at the Winter Music Conference in Miami & has been asked to play at Sunday School presented by Made Event for the 2nd year in row. Some world renowned DJ's/Producers he’s played along with are Adam Beyer, Gary Beck, Hermanez, Nick Curly, Sharam, The Martinez Brothers, Victor Calderone and many more.

Simon has plans to stay focused on creating his own productions this year. This Brooklyn breakout star is definitely one to keep your eye on. He is already garnering a local following and soon music lovers worldwide will be introduced to this class act. So we want to welcome Simon Heyliger to the Universal Rhythm Sessions collection with this special mix he did for us. Enjoy the ride.
